Class 3 invited the dentist into their science class to talk to them about teeth. Ms Secker had lots of interesting information to share with the children. They learnt how many teeth people should have and what their teeth are called. There are three types of teeth; incisors for cutting food, canine teeth for tearing and molars for grinding their food.
Did you know that milk teeth are really called deciduous teeth?
Afterwards the children were given advice on how to look after their teeth. They were advised to brush their teeth for 2 minutes each morning and evening, and not to rinse their mouths out with water or mouth wash. They were shown how sugar is hidden in foods and the class was shocked to see how much sugar is in a bottle of tomato ketchup. It was a very informative afternoon.
