Sports Funding

Sports Funding

The allocation is £16,960.

Below is an outline of how the money has been/will be spent:

  • £840 for an additional school sports club each week over 3 terms – run by a qualified instructor.
  • £1,400 for transport to participate in tournaments/cluster/area events.
  • £875 to buy into the School Sports Partnership.
  • £275 for KS1 to participate in the Active Kids festivals.
  • £300 for lower KS2 to engage with the Health Body, Heathy Mind initiative.
  • £120 to participate in 4 Omnes Games throughout the year.
  • £5,000 to go towards a project to improve the playground.
  • £1020 for a new PA system to be used for Sports Day, dance club and the dance curriculum.
  • £275 for badminton resources.
  • £55 contribution towards medals/trophies for cluster events.
  • £227 for maintenance of PE/gymnastics equipment.
  • £1,000 to maintain climbing equipment to embed physical activity during the school for the younger children.
  • £5,573 still to be allocated to enhance current opportunities.

The impact of funding in previous years has been good – see PE report – and in July 2018, the school obtained the Sainsbury’s School Games Gold Award, a fantastic achievement for a small school. Clubs are well supported and many children participate in sport out of school. By having a member of staff who takes subject responsibility for PE, we ensure that improvements are sustainable and areas for staff training are identified and addressed.

All Y6 children in the 2017-18 cohort swim competently, confidently and proficiently, using a range of strokes, over a distance of at least 25 metres. They were also taught and could perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
