Road Safety 2017

Road Safety with Class 1 and Class 3

Today, 10th March 2017, Class 1 and 3 children had a talk on road safety.
Class 1 discussed ways to stay safe by the road. The children gave lots of good answers on how to stay safe, "Stay with your grown up", "Hold your mum or dad's hand by the road", "Walk on the pavement" and "Walk away from the road".
Benjamin Bear said, "Always stay safe and hold an adults hand!"
The children talked about how to be safe in the car. They learned that they should make sure they sit in a child seat not an adult's seat, they should listen for the click when they fasten their seat belt and they should make sure the straps hold them tightly in their seat. Bethany Bear says, "Always wear your seat belt!" The children all enjoyed meeting Bethany and Benjamin Bear and learning about keeping safe by the road.
Class 3 learnt about how to stay safe in a car. A model car was used which could show what would happen to someone when a seat belt is not used. The children were surprised at how little speed it took for a simple accident to become very dangerous for the occupants of a car.
