Class 3 Trip to Ely 2015

Ely Cathedral Visit 14th October 2015 Class 3

This year was the 40th anniversary of Ely Cathedral’s October Open Days. Class 3 was lucky enough to attend this special event.

This year’s theme was - A Celebration of Local History from the Saxon Period to the 20th Century. Our class enjoyed taking part in the performances, workshops and the service. We learnt about medieval monks, what life was like during Oliver Cromwell’s time and all about the dissolution of the monasteries.

George, Freddie and Paige enjoyed dressing as monks in the workshops. Paige and Callum took part in the performance before lunch, they were dressed as pilgrims travelling to Ely.

We also had the chance to meet children from other schools and sketch some of the architecture of the cathedral.
