Class 3 Summer Topics 2015

 CLASS 3  –  DENVER V. C. PRIMARY SCHOOL  –  SUMMER TERM 2014-2015

Dear Parent/Carer,

Welcome to the new term, here is a flavour of what we will be working on during the Summer.

Literacy: We are looking at Recounts and Poetry.

Numeracy: In Numeracy we will be looking at the four operations to improve confidence before moving on to co-ordinates, angles and directions.

Science: We will be investigating Living things and their habitats.

Design and Technology: We will be using lego to programme, monitor and control.

Computing: This term in our computer lessons we will be looking at how to assess digital content.

History: We will look at the Anglo-Saxons and the Scots.

Geography: We will use our skills and fieldwork to study an area..

Art and Design: We will look the work of L.S. Lowry and also practise our drawing skills.

Music: In music the children will continue to develop their use of the Ocarina and visiting the performance of Ten Pieces by the BBC Orchestra (details to follow later).

PE: This term we will be doing Net Games and Athletics. Children should bring in their PE kits each Monday and take them home on the Friday. It will mostly be outdoor PE sessions so outdoor trainers will be needed.

RE: This term we will be looking at Hinduism: Teachings, Authority, Religion and the Individual.

PHSE/Citizenship: We will be looking at how to be the best we can be.

French: We will be looking at Shopping, Food and Drink.

Homework: Children receive homework on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Homework set on Monday is due on Wednesday, homework set on Wednesday is due on Friday. Spellings are set on Friday to be tested on the next Friday.

Some children find it extremely beneficial to read their spellings with their parents/carers and your support in this is very welcome.

If you have any queries about your child please feel free to contact me. Sometimes conversations at the beginning of the day are not easy as lessons need to be started promptly so after school meetings would be preferable.
