Class 3 Spring Topics 2016

Dear Parent/Carer,
Welcome to the Spring term, here is a flavour of what we will be working on this term.
Literacy: This term we will begin our literacy sessions by looking at chronological reports.
Numeracy: We are working on counting in multiples, using tables and ordering numbers.
Science: We will be investigating Animals and their environments and Rocks later in the term.
Design and Technology: We will be investigating structure and textiles. We will be designing, creating and evaluating our own containers.
Computing: This term in our lessons we will be looking at writing our own simple programs.
History: We will continue to look at changes in Britain during pre-historic times.
Geography: During our Geography sessions we will be looking at Volcanoes and Earthquakes.
Art and Design: We will look at patterns, how they have been used and creating our own.
Music: The children will be looking at music and how it can create images and feelings.
PE: During the first half of the term our class will be having Fit4School sessions. This will involve a weekly interactive health workshop and a multi-skills activity session. Children should bring in their PE kits each Monday and take them home on the Friday.
RE: This term we will be looking at Judaism.
PHSE/Citizenship: We will be looking at Friendship and Bullying. We will also be covering health in our Fit4School sessions.
French: We will be exploring the French words for days, months and how to talk about your age.
Homework: Maths homework is set on Monday to be returned on Wednesday.  English homework is set on Wednesday to be returned on Friday. Spellings will be set on Friday to be tested the following Friday. Some children find it extremely beneficial to read these with their parents/carers and your support in this is very welcome. Additionally if your child is a developing reader it is important that they get as much support at home as possible through reading and sharing books.
If you have any queries about your child please feel free to contact me. Sometimes conversations at the beginning of the day are not easy as lessons need to be started promptly so after school meetings would be preferable.
I look forward to the exciting term ahead with Class 3.
Mr Bonham
